Wisconsin’s commitment to public transit should increase while also allowing the freedom of local communities to develop or build upon existing public transit systems. Milwaukee must catch up to peer metro areas in the public transit it offers, which means state law must change to give Milwaukee the resources and flexibility to do so.
Transportation infrastructure, whether a local road or a recreational trail, needs committed funding for repair. Well-maintained infrastructure improves our economic development as well as our health and quality of life. Each level of government shares in this responsibility and for too long the state has not met its share.
